OUR MISSION

To change the standard of sustainability in beauty.

What's wrong with the cosmetics industry?

Problem 1: Ingredients That Never Break Down

0%

of popular cosmetics still contain microplastics.

Many leading brands' formulations include microplastic particles … These microplastics don't break down in nature. (Plastics Soup Foundation; "Almost 9 in 10 Products from Major Cosmetics Brands Contain Microplastics")

0 tons

of microplastics from personal care products have entered the environment since 1970.

Over decades, synthetic particles from cosmetics … cumulative mass demonstrates that small, daily ingredient choices add up into a major pollution legacy. (ScienceDirect, "Microplastic release from personal care products since 1970")

0%+

of U.S. and Canadian cosmetics tested contained PFAS 'forever chemicals'.

Many products hide synthetic 'forever chemicals' (PFAS) … over 50% of items tested did, despite not listing them. (CBS News, "Forever Chemicals in Personal Care Products")

Problem 2: Packaging Waste That Outlives Us

7.9 billion units

of rigid plastic packaging were produced in U.S. beauty in 2018.

In 2018, almost 7.9 billion units of rigid plastic were created in the U.S. just for beauty and personal care products.

5–6%

is the U.S. plastic recycling rate (2018 vs. recent analyses).

The EPA reported an 8.7% plastics recycling rate in 2018… recent analyses find U.S. plastics recycling at just 5–6%.

114 billion pieces

of single-use beauty packaging go unrecycled every year.

An estimated 114 billion pieces of single-use beauty packaging are thrown away rather than recycled each year.

Problem 3: The Hidden Health Toll

Parabens

Long-term exposure to parabens … can harm human health. Parabens can modulate the hormonal and immune orchestra of the body. Recent findings have correlated paraben use with hypersensitivity and infertility.
— Chatterjee et al., Parabens as the Double-Edged Sword (2024)
Examples:
methylparaben, butylparaben

Phthalates

Human epidemiological studies have shown a significant association between phthalate exposures and adverse reproductive outcomes in both women and men … and developmental effects in animals and humans.
— Wang et al., Phthalates and Their Impacts on Human Health (2021)
Examples:
diethyl phthalate (DEP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP)

PFAS

Exposure to PFAS is associated with altered immune and thyroid function, liver disease, lipid and insulin dysregulation, kidney disease, reproductive and developmental outcomes, and cancer.
— Fenton et al., Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substance Toxicity and Human Health (2021)
Examples:
PTFE (Teflon), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)

To put it simply…

The industry currently uses ingredients that are risks to our health + accumulate in the environment

And packaging that can never be used again, ending up in landfills

What are we doing about it?

1. Ingredients that return to nature.

NEUGLO's formulations are built from biodegradable, naturally derived ingredients that safely break down in the environment

No microplastics, silicones, ethoxylated or petrochemical derived ingredients, ever.

Every ingredient we choose is selected for its ability to nourish skin and respect the planet's natural cycles.

Our entire ingredient philosophy is rooted in green chemistry: every compound is renewable, biodegradable, and designed for minimal environmental impact, replacing petrochemical synthesis with nature-based innovation.

In short: What goes on your skin should never end up polluting the planet.

2. We design packaging that lives again.

  • The beauty industry discards billions of single-use plastics every year. We refuse to be part of that cycle.
  • Our jars and bottles are glass and uncoated — endlessly recyclable and refillable.
  • Labels are printed on uncoated hemp paper and boxes are made from plantable seed paper that literally grows back into nature. All Ink is soy based.
  • We're building a return-and-reuse program for all of our products to sanitize and reuse all glass and small plastic pieces and give packaging new life rather than sending it to landfills.
  • Even our shipping is low-impact: recyclable boxes, compostable or plantable paper, and shipping is carbon-offset.
  • In short: We make beauty packaging that's as circular as nature itself.

3. Protecting YOU and the planet.

·
The beauty industry often overlooks ingredient safety in pursuit of performance or profit.
·
Many formulas still rely on ingredients linked to hormone disruption and long-term health risks + manufacturing methods that introduce trace carcinogens.
·
We never use parabens, phthalates, PFAS, ethoxylated ingredients, petrochemical derived ingredients, or synthetic fragrances.
·
Every NEUGLO formula is designed gentle, safe, and built from naturally compatible compounds that respect your skin and the planet.
·
Our commitment to green chemistry extends beyond sustainability. It's about creating skincare that's also biologically kind.
·
In short: What's good for your skin should never come at a cost to your health.
