Rosemary Leaf Extract

INCI: Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract

What It Is

Rosemary extract (often referred to as ROE) is a potent oil-soluble antioxidant derived from the leaves of the Rosmarinus officinalis plant. Unlike rosemary essential oil, ROE is specifically used to help extend the shelf life of oils and butters in skincare by preventing oxidation.

Why We Use It

We use rosemary extract to naturally preserve the freshness of our oil-based ingredients. It helps protect delicate oils from going rancid, maintaining their efficacy and extending product stability—without the use of synthetic antioxidants.

Origin & How It’s Made

Rosemary extract is sourced from the leaves of the rosemary plant, grown in Mediterranean regions. The antioxidant compounds are extracted using gentle methods such as CO₂ or ethanol extraction, yielding a concentrated oil-soluble blend rich in carnosic acid and other protective phytochemicals.
